Mansa District of Punjab was formerly a part of the Bathinda District. It has an area of over 2,170 sq km with a population around a million. Mansa, the seat of administration of Mansa District, is a small town situated on the Barnala – Sardulgarh - Sirsa Road, in Punjab. It is situated 113 km to the south of Ludhiana.
The climate is extremely hot and dry in summer, and cold in winter. The Ghaggar River is passing through the Sardulgarh block. The major crops are pulses, oilseeds, sugarcane, gram, green fodders, vegetables, gardening and forestry.
The district lies on the rail line between Bathinda-Jind- Delhi sections and on Barnala- Sardulgarh-Sirsa Road. Mansa, being situated in the cotton belt of Punjab, is dubbed as the area of white gold. Cotton ginning is the major industry of the town. It is also a major center for agricultural trade in the district.
Places of tourist interest include the Samadhi of Bhai Gurdas, where a large fair is held every year in March-April and Gurdwara Patshahi Nauvin, situated 13 km to the north of Mansa town.
